Doreen is coming to chat to us about THE ROYAL ORDNANCE DEPOT just along the road at Weedon. Loads of info about it if you do a bit of a search.
'Napoleonic Wars era, built 1802, the Military Ordnance Depot was established by an Act of Parliament in 1803, as part of the British anti invasion preparations of 1803 - 1805. It was a central small arms depot, for the British Army and was originally served by the canal, by its own branch which entered through a portcullis.'
History lesson over. Thanks Wikipedia.
Event is free to members of the club (£20pa) or £3 to guests. Everyone welcome!

David has been the chairman of the Middleton Cheney Gardening Club for over 10 years. He opens his cottage garden in the summer to raise money for charities, including for the National Garden Scheme and Katharine House. A lifelong hobbyist gardener, he developed an early interest in walled gardens in his school days, when he would stay with this uncle, a head gardener, as his uncle’s career developed through a series of appointments at different country houses. All these gardens had walled sections; each with a different character and posing differing technical and managerial challenges for the head gardener. This talk covers the basics of English walled gardens and should help you better understand what you are looking at, when you next visit one.
