I am writing on behalf of Towcester Area Door to Door (TADD) to ask for your help in publicising our need to recruit more volunteer drivers in your parish. TADD’s community transport service is crucial in helping people maintain their independence in their own homes and provides a friendly, affordable and safe way to access health and well-being services.
As expected, the Covid pandemic resulted in a dramatic decrease in the number of journeys requested by our members, however we are now seeing many services and appointments return and demand is increasing. We have always had a significant proportion of “older” volunteer drivers and many have now understandably stepped down. We now need to recruit a new wave of younger drivers as we approach the Autumn vaccine programme. We are hopeful that the people who became involved in volunteering in their communities during lockdown can be encouraged to continue and driving with TADD could be an option for them. People working from home may now be able to fit a journey or two around their working day.
An article appealing for volunteers with our contact details is attached, together with our logo and a flyer which could be printed and displayed on noticeboards around your parish. Please could you support TADD by including our appeal in your printed and online newsletters, website, facebook page and any other means you have available. Our facebook and website links are below.
If you would like to discuss or obtain further information, please do get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.
