RADAR Monument

(Just off A5, heading towards Litchborough)

Although officially sited in Stowe Nine-Churches, just outside the boundary of Litchborough, the importance of this monument is too great to omit.

It commemorates what became known as 'The Daventry Experiment', the first time that RAdio Detection And Ranging was used to detect the presence of aircraft, and the development of RADAR became vitally important in The Battle of Brittain and, of course, in modern aviation.
